19 November 2011 - Riga - Nabadak

It was hard to pull ourselves away from the friendliness and warmth of Zabadaks, especially the pancakes with jam, but as we departed from Kuldiga the clouds parted and blue sky peeped through lighting up the silver birches along the roadside. The drive was easy to Riga airport where we said goodbye to our trusty, but now exceedingly dirty, Mazda. As we arrived Riga was lit-up by the Festival of Light; families strolling through the cobbled streets of the Old Town gazing at the light shows and video footage sprayed against the buildings.

The show was at Nabaklab, a venue in the town centre of roughly 150 - 200 capacity, split into several rooms and bars so different events could occur simultaneously. We supported the Finnish band Cosmobile     ( http://www.myspace.com/cosmobile ) who played a mid-90's style indie rock with verve and fun.

So now we have two days to explore Riga, find the ethnic instrument store and potter around some galleries before our show at Cultural Cafe Taka ( http://pataku.wordpress.com/ ).
